HP 21YO is matured in mainly American oak sherry casks and this pulls back the sweet notes compared to the 18YO. This allows the drier smokier notes to come through giving the whisky drinker the opportunity to taste another side of Highland Park distillery which doesn't come out to play too often.

It was actually conceived using the 1977 bicentenary liquid as a blue print and then Max McFarlane improved it by upping the strength and giving the consumer a real Orkney experience in a glass.
